I am on a 491 and trying to plan ahead for the 191. I understand there are regional residence and income requirements, but I am confused about short trips to metro areas for work meetings. Do occasional work trips outside the regional area cause issues if my home and main job are regional?

If the meetings are regular, ask the employer to describe them as temporary travel in your role letter. It is easier to collect that now than years later.

Rental agreements, utility bills, payslips, and employer letters can all help later. The problem is usually proving the pattern over time.

Occasional travel is different from living or working mainly outside the designated area. I would keep records that show where you actually live and work.
