Which visa is right for you?
Any person who is not an Australian Citizen and wishes to travel to or stay in Australia on a temporary or permanent basis must obtain a visa. There are around 150 different Australian visas and each has its own set of rules that you must meet to be eligible. If these rules are not met a visa cannot be granted. When applying for a visa it is extremely important that all the requirements of the visa are met in order for your application to be successful.
It is the Australian government that controls who is allowed to
enter and live in Australia. The Australian parliament enacted the
Migration Act 1958 to regulate the entry and stay in Australia of
non-citizens. The Migration regulations 1994 set out the important
provisions giving effect to the Act. At Australian Immigration
Associates we use Migration Act 1958 and Migration regulations 1994
to assess your details with the requirements of an Australian visa.
There are temporary and permanent visas for Australia. If you
are currently in or outside Australia you can apply for a visa
through Australia’s migration program. The four parts to Australia’s
migration program are;
- Family Stream
- Skill Stream
- Special Eligibility Stream
- Refugee/Humanitarian Program
A permanent visa will entitle you to remain permanently and a
temporary visa will authorise a temporary stay subject to
conditions.
